Information
The district of Viersen in the heart of the Niederrhein is a major regional influence. The scenery as well as the various castles are typical for the area and can be admired on the “BahnRadweg”, the Railway Cycle Lane. This 125 km circular route follows disused railway lines and provides a cycling experience of a very special kind. In addition to the aforementioned sights the Krickenbecker Lakes, museums and picturesque town centres will invite you to stop and look.Numerous eateries offer regional specialities, sometimes harvested in the vicinity just hours before. The route is also ideal for detours to Kaldenkirchen, Grefrath, Willich or Mönchengladbach. As everywhere on the Niederrhein it is a rather flat route, and since it passes many railway stations it is particularly easy to access.
